DOUGHNUT
Since the 16th century, the Dutch love Oliebol. That’s a round cake and sweet, like fried bread. The outside dusted with powdered sugar. That favorite cake is called Oliebol (oil spots), because it requires a lot of frying oil. If not to cover the oil, do not mature uniformly. Outside is almost burnt but still raw inside! A half century later, many Dutch people moved to the Americas. In this new country they also like to make Oliebol. The cake was not only to enjoy their own families, but also served to guests. Apparently, many guests who loved it and asked taught him.
American citizens who did not come from the Netherlands went along to make Oliebol. Not everyone likes baseball shape (sphere, ball). There are trying to make other forms of Oliebol dough. Many of them prefer a similar flat propeller and short. Such forms could reverse itself when fried saving work. The inside had matured faster than the round. Low, flat still.
Because the shape not always round again, this cake is no longer called Oliebol but dougnut (almond paste). You see, each cake comes from small almond dough expands when fried.
One day in the year 1847, Mrs. Gregory who lived in the United States makes doughnut for her children. The children could not wait for it to fry the dooghnut shaped round. They were whining "Come on Mom, hurry! I'm Starving! ". Be patience! Their mother said as she continued to fry. But, what happened? Because of the rush, his doughnut was less mature. Huuh, Mom! How's this? "Well, the middle raw. So, be patient! "Said the mother.
Hanson Gregory, the son of Mrs. Gregory is a sea captain, watched the cake carefully. Suddenly, he got a sense! "Mom, Mom! This cake's cooked just long middle. Next time, try to make a hold at the middle of this doughnut! "That's true, Mrs. Gregory thought. When fried, it was faster to be mature and evenly. It felt even better.
When Mrs. Gregory served cake to the family, they also feel more comfortable this cake. Guests like it. So, Mrs. Gregory always make the doughnut hole in the middle, like a ring.
That is the story of doughnuts, our favorite cake, Come on, who want doughnuts? (source: children reading series, the origin of 2, Summary)
